Ingredients:

  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp sea salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl to ensure even distribution of leavening agents.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with light brown sugar and granulated white sugar on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating until fully incorporated.
  4. Turn the mixer to the lowest setting and gradually add the flour mixture. Mix only until a few streaks of flour remain.
  5. Use a silicone spatula to fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Optional: chill dough balls for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes. Remove when edges are golden but centers look soft.
