Ingredients:
- 16 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1/3 cup raw honey
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then slice into uniform 2.5 cm cubes.
- In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and white pepper until every side is well-coated.
- Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the tofu in a single layer.
- Sear the tofu for 3-4 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the glaze into the skillet over the crispy tofu. Toss quickly for 2-3 minutes until the sauce emulsifies and coats the cubes in a thick, mahogany glaze.
