Ingredients:

  • 16 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1/3 cup raw honey
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then slice into uniform 2.5 cm cubes.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and white pepper until every side is well-coated.
  3. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the tofu in a single layer.
  4. Sear the tofu for 3-4 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms.
  5. In a separate small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Pour the glaze into the skillet over the crispy tofu. Toss quickly for 2-3 minutes until the sauce emulsifies and coats the cubes in a thick, mahogany glaze.
