Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, flats and drumettes separated
  • 1 tbsp aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Pat the chicken wings extremely dry with paper towels to ensure all surface moisture is removed.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, salt, smoked paprika, and black pepper until every wing is lightly and evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer on a stainless steel wire cooling rack set over a large rimmed baking sheet.
  4. Place the baking sheet into a cold oven and turn the heat to 425°F (220°C). Bake for approximately 45 minutes until the skin is golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the wings bake, combine the BBQ sauce, honey, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan.
  6. Simmer the glaze over medium-low heat for 5-10 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and the sauce has thickened into a velvety reduction.
  7. Remove the wings from the oven and immediately toss them in a large bowl with the warm honey garlic BBQ glaze until fully coated.
