Ingredients:
- 4 tbsp (56g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup (50g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp (2.6g) ground cinnamon
- 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
- 8 slices white sandwich bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1 tsp (2.6g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp (15ml) milk
- 1/4 tsp (1.2ml) vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Remove the crusts from 8 slices of white sandwich bread. Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice until thin and pliable.
- Spread a thin layer of softened cream cheese across the flattened bread.
- Combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon; sprinkle the mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Roll the bread tightly from one side to the other.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
- Quickly dip each roll-up into the batter, avoiding over-soaking.
- Heat a knob of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place rolls seam-side down and fry, turning frequently, until all sides are golden brown.
- Optional: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract together to create a glaze and drizzle over the finished roll-ups.
